Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a semi-transparent or opaque, crystalline thermoplastic polyester resin, also known as poly(butylene terephthalate). It was first synthesized by German scientist P. Schlack in 1942. Its chemical formula is (C12H12O4)n, with a relative molecular weight ranging from 30,000 to 40,000. It appears milky white or light yellow, with a glossy surface, and has a density of 1.31~1.55g/cm3.

The production process of PBT resin primarily involves the transesterification method (DMT method) and the direct esterification method (PTA method). The DMT method encompasses both batch-type DMT and continuous DMT processes. This resin exhibits characteristics such as high temperature resistance, moisture resistance, oil resistance, excellent electrical insulation properties, chemical corrosion resistance, rapid molding, ease of molding, and low moisture absorption.

1. Used for producing filaments, films, and components for electronics and electrical appliances (such as transformers, potentiometers, strip connectors, color CRT sockets, and various switches) and the automotive industry; also used for mechanical parts and fiber modification.

2. Used for manufacturing various industrial components for televisions, electrical appliances, instruments, and machinery, as well as for producing filaments and films.
