Vinyl methyl ether is an unsaturated ether compound with active chemical properties. It is a flammable gas at room temperature and has a special odor. Due to the presence of vinyl (-CH=CH₂) and methoxy (-OCH₃) in its molecular structure, it possesses the reaction characteristics of ethers and alkenes.
